기백은 '황제내경 소문 5운행대론'에서,"夫陰陽者 數之可十 推之可百 數之可千 推之可萬 天地陰陽者 不可以數推 以象之謂也"(무릇 음양은 數로는 10이라고 할 수 있으며 推해서 百이 되고, 數해서 千이 되고, 推해서 萬이 됩니다. 천지의 음양은 數로써만 推할 수 없으니, 象으로써 말합니다)라고 음양은 수로 추하고 상으로 말합니다.
